Songs About JaneSongs About Jane Artist: Maroon 5 (Usually ships in 24 hours) Click Here for more information Maroon 5 aren't the first band to fuse RB and rock, but they certainly are one of the most convincing. One can almost hear Stevie Wonder's beaded braids clattering in time to their deep, funky grooves. At best, the band conjures up latter-day Motown, complete with a shuddering organ and hyperbolic vocals; at worst, they sound like a stylized boy band, with all the attendant close harmonies and dramatic pauses. But despite these musical schisms, Maroon 5 are a thoroughly engaging outfit, thanks to throbbing bass lines, hooky songs, and lead singer Adam Levin's swaggering delivery. --Jaan Uhelszki A diverse, modern, and soulful collection I purchased this album after discovering that two very diverse songs which I had heard on the radio and liked, "Harder to Breathe" and "She Will Be Loved," were both sung by Maroon 5. Whereas the former is rough and modern, the latter is sweetly soulful. The band's eclectic style permeates the entire album, from the pop-like "This Love" to the more jazzy "Sunday Morning," there is something here to suit virtually every music lover's tastes. Every track on SONGS ABOUT JANE is devoted to lead singer Adam Levin's mysterious muse, Jane. His conflicting emotions about the source of his inspiration are evident in his often-contradictory lyrics: "I'll never leave you behind-Or treat you unkind" (from "Sweetest Goodbye"); "There is nothing you can say or do-I called to let you know I'm through with you" (from "Through With You"); and "I'm full of regret-For all things that I've done and said" (from "Tangled"). These words speak deeply to anyone who has ever been in love, with all of its glory, all of its misery. If you are looking for music that is fresh, different, and familiar all at the same time, I highly recommend the unique sound of Maroon 5. Uplifting and relaxing I bought this cd, only having heard one of the songs on it - I instantly was in love with the whole thing! It can cheer me up, chill me out, help me sleep, anything - and my 2 and 5 year old kids like to boogie in the backseat when we listen to it in the car - great album! the best of the funky white boy band. Maroon 5 is the SSSS! I first hear them on the radio and thought they were black, but was knocked off my feet when I saw their "Breathe" video. Since then I have bought this CD and am in love. "Tangle" is on of my favorite songs, because of it's usually beat. I 'car dance' all the time to it. I really love "Sweetest Goodbye" and "Shiver"! They remind me alot of U2. Well Maroon 5 has my African-American vote for bringing the funky!
